WP Nokia 800 Sun official photos surface, N9 meets its long-lost twin

Just over two weeks before Nokia World kicks off and the Finnish company unveils its first WP smartphones, we got official photos of one of them. Promo materials of Nokia 800, which was previously rumored as Lumia just popped up, confirming that it will be one of the Nokia smartphones to appear at the event.

As you can see, the Nokia 800 body is almost identical to that of the Nokia N9.

The new leak nicely aligns with previous rumors, so there's every reason to believe that its real. The ads suggest that this will be the Nokia Sun, which as we previously heard will be the marketing name of the Nokia Sea Ray. And, if your memory serves you well, you'd know that the Sea Ray was supposed to be an N9-lookalike.

Specs-wise the Nokia Sun will reportedly offer a 3.7" WVGA AMOLED, Windows Phone Mango, a 1.4GHz CPU and 16GB of onboard storage. The smartphone should hit the shelves in the first half of November.

Samsung Omnia W announced with Windows Phone Mango and 1.4 GHz Processor

Samsung has announced Samsung Omnia W, their first handset to feature Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango). The phone has 3.7 inch Super AMOLED display, 1.4GHz processor and 5 MP Auto focus camera with LED Flash and a VGA video calling camera. The Windows Phone Mango has Windows Phone People Hub that has built-in social networking services like Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. It also has Marketplace Hub, Office Hub, Game Hub, and Picture Hub, Music & Video Hub – powered by Microsoft Zune.

It also comes with pre-installed Samsung’s apps like Now, RSS Times, Video Call(3G), Photo Studio, Mini Diary, All Share(DNLA), Fun Shot, Wireless Manager and some of the downloadable apps like Dictionary, Photogram and Rubik’s Cube.

The Samsung Omnia W will be available starting in Italy from end-October and would gradually be rolled out globally including Europe, CIS, Latin America, Africa, South East and South West Asia.

Windows Phone Mango update coming in a couple of weeks

The much anticipated WP 7.5 update – Mango is scheduled to start rolling out in a week or two says Eric Hautala (General Manager, Customer Experience Engineering at Microsoft).

When the update is released users will also get some model-specific software from the manufacturers of their smartphones. That is required as Mango is tuned to work with each phone and its apps perfectly. The update is said to arrive in the next couple of weeks .

Eric Hautala also advises users to get the updated versions of Windows Phone 7 connector for Mac and Zune for PC, which have received a number of update-related improvements. He did address the issue of non-official firmwares, which he advises users to stand clear of, as they interfere with updates. Phones with unofficial software versions may be unable to receive the real Mango when it rolls out.

Microsoft sums up everything that’s great about Windows Phone Mango in a cool video ad

Microsoft has just released a new ad about the upcoming Mango update of its Windows Phone smartphone platform. This one is targeted more at developers than users, but it is still a nice way to learn why it’s worth picking WP 7.1 for your next smartphone.

Microsoft has kept the video short and simple, but that hasn’t made it any less impressive. It is certainly good enough to be worth spending a minute and 15 seconds of your life watching it. If you have any interest in Windows phone, that is.

WhatsApp coming to Windows Phone 7

One of the most popular cross platform messaging services ie WhatsApp is finally making its way over to Windows Phone 7.5 which is also known as Mango. WhatsApp sent across a cryptic message via its official Twitter channel which indicated that it was working on an app for Mango.

WMPowerUser has also managed to obtain screenshots of the upcoming service. The messaging service makes full use of Metro UI making it look like a native app. The application is expected to be launched very soon. WhatsApp enables unlimited messaging across iPhone , Blackberry , Android , Symbian and WP7 platforms.

HTC Titan and Radar WP7 Mango devices revealed, due next month

IFA event is currently going on in Berlin and a lot of big technology brands introduced new stuff. Samsungannounced several stuff and Toshiba introduced a new tablet whereas Sony Ericsson showed us the updated version of Xperia Arc, that’s the story of Germany. On the other side, HTC which is one of the leading smartphone manufacturers in the world unveiled two new devices in London. If you are an Android fanboy then you don’t need to go all happy because these are WP7 phones, actually first ever WP7.1 a.k.a Mango devices. Remember the leaked HTC Omega and HTC Eternity? And we told you a week ago that HTC will be launching them on September 1st, so the rumor was true.

HTC Eternity, now known as HTC Titan is a huge device. One can consider it as a successor to HTC HD7 because Titan comes with a huge 4.7 inch SLCD touchscreen display. It comes with a 1.5 GHz single core Qualcomm processor, 512MB of RAM and up to 16GB storage, 8 MP camera with dual LED flash, 1.3 MP front-facing camera for video chatting, and some other good features. Titan looks like a one powerful device and I am sure it will be good for both HTC and Microsoft as it will be one of the first WP7 Mango devices. About the price, Titan will go for 599 euros and it will hit the market on October 1st.

HTC Radar (previously known as Omega) is for people who are looking for a device with normal size, not with a huge display like Titan. Radar features a 3.8 Inch display which means the size of the device is around the Nexus One. Also a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, and a 5 megapixel camera and a front facing camera for video chat. Radar is actually for people who are looking for a mid-range budget WP7 device  and it really looks good. The design is quite beautiful and as it’s HTC, I am personally a big fan of their devices built quality. HTC will also launch it on October 1 and it will go for 399 euros.
